TEAM LOSI 8IGHT 2.0 RTR 1:8 SCALE
Losi's 1/8-scale 8IGHT 2.0 Ready-to-Run Nitro Buggy makes it easier than ever for anyone to experience the excitement of driving a 1/8-scale buggy or get into off-road 1/8-scale competitive racing. Designed with the entry-level driver in mind, the 8IGHT 2.0 RTR is completely assembled and ready-to-run with the chassis, wheels, tires and electronics already installed.
The new Losi 8IGHT 2.0 1/8th RTR features over thirty improvements to refine one of the world leading cars. At the release of the car at the World championships Mike Truhe set the pace and secured TQ for the event, fastest times and laps proving the cars speed and consistency.
Starting at the rear of the car the new hub design offers further tuning aids and more reliability. One new camber link hole, tighter tolerance and fit combined with new 3.5mm hinge pins all result in speed improvements with durability. The new style hinge pins have lock nuts on both ends so fine adjustment can be made. At the front of the car new castor blocks allow for new link options; options which have proven to be a great addition to the set-up.
The tuned flex chassis we have all seen on the Losi 8ight before but this new car has the additional feature of a longer chassis also. This takes the car to the max and improves stability and driving feel through the bumps. The cuts made to the chassis have all been positioned to ensure flex in the correct positions while still maintaining a stable platform for the engine and transmission.
Due to the increased flex of the chassis a new radio tray has been produced to ensure the electrics are secure and safely installed. The plastic has been strengthened and bulked up in many areas to ensure servo protection and car control. The tray also sits a further 7mm further away from the engine and centre diff allowing for easier linkage set-up and a better weight balance of the chassis.
A small detailed improvement to the design of the fuel tank lid has resulted in two springs now holding the lid shut. This improves importantly over the original set-up where should the one spring system fail, the race was over. This new design ensures the tank is closed and adds security for the long, one hour finals. Also included in the kit is a pressure nipple; this allows the amount of tubing to be altered thus tuning the position of the clunk in the tank. This is now a requirement for EFRA events.
Even though the Losi 8ight is one of the lightest cars in the market today further reductions on the high weight have been achieved by changing the design of the shock tower. Lightweight and designed more for purpose this shock tower although having less tuning options has ones which are of far more use. With the newly located fixings the upper inboard link can be moved in and out but on the same line, therefore adjusting the links without dramatically changing the camber change.
With all the set-up and cosmetic changes Losi have not ignored improvements in reliability. Better material drive shafts, new centre CVD covers which allow the joint to be greased with the confidence it will stay clean, and smaller turnbuckles lowering un-sprung weight and offering a better look all add to the overall improvement of the 8ight.
Refined with race proven changes and modifications has resulted in the new development Losi 8ight 2.0
